Good morning ,

🦟 Cochise County Health Department is reporting a West Nile virus case out of Douglas. Due to some of the recent monsoon rain we’ve enjoyed, mosquitos have populated.

You can help fight the bite by checking around your property for any standing water in things stored around your yard and dumping it out.

In honor of International Dog Day, a quick note and tribute to the Dalmatian in the fire service:

Dalmatians have been a proud symbol of the fire service for more than two centuries. In the era of horse-drawn fire wagons, these loyal dogs ran alongside the horses, clearing the path, protecting equipment, and calming the teams in the midst of smoke and chaos. As fire engines transitioned to motorized vehicles, the Dalmatian’s working role faded, but their place in the firehouse endured.

Today, Dalmatians continue to serve as beloved mascots and ambassadors, bringing history to life while helping firefighters connect with their communities through education, parades, and public events. They remain a living reminder of the courage, loyalty, and tradition that define the fire service.
